Tory Lanez is “marrying the mother of his child behind bars” while applying for bail … after being sentenced to 10 YEARS in prison for the shooting death of Megan Thee Stallion

Tory Lanez reportedly married Raina Chassagne, the mother of his 6-year-old son Kai, while she was in prison for the shooting death of Megan Thee Stallion.

The 31-year-old rapper, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, was sentenced to ten years in prison for three serious convictions.

According to a Substack article by court reporter Meghan Cuniff, Lanez is now requesting bail posted on X about the alleged development.

Cuniff shared screenshots of what is believed to be a new motion that calls for Lanez to be allowed to “live locally in Los Angeles” instead of in prison.

Chassagne, who was seen crying outside the courthouse after Lanez’s sentencing, is referred to as his “wife” in the stills.

“If released, he would live locally in the Los Angeles area with his wife, Raina Chassagne, and their six-year-old child,” a screenshot reads in part.

Cuniff noted on X that the singer’s “relationship status has rapidly evolved in recent weeks.”

“His fiancée is now his wife as per the application,” the report confirmed.

Chassagne was overcome with emotion after Lanez’s sentencing on Aug. 8 and was comforted by friends as she waited by her car outside the courthouse.

On the first day of the sentencing hearing, Chassagne made an emotional plea for his sentence to be reduced, calling her ex-boyfriend an ambitious and trusting person.

Six-year-old Kai’s mother, Raina, testified to the rapper’s commitment as a father – and tried to urge the judge to consider leniency to break the vicious cycle in which black fathers are incarcerated and therefore separated from their children.

However, their requests were unsuccessful. Lanez was sentenced to a decade in prison.

During the trial in December, Tory Lanez appeared in court with his son Kai, got out of the car in which he had been traveling and lifted the boy out in his arms.

He was seen adjusting the boy’s suit and then entering the courtroom together.

After his day in court, he also took him out, saying, “He’s my support system and I’m his too.”

It is unclear how Chassagne and Lanez met or their co-parenting up to this point.

At his sentencing yesterday, convicted Canadian musician Lanez said that despite the outcome, victim Megan is “someone who remains very close to my heart to this day.”

Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, said of the shooting that put him behind bars for a decade: “I said some very immature things that I shouldn’t have said.”

“I revealed some secrets that I shouldn’t have revealed.”

The verdict ends a dramatic trial that sparked a cultural firestorm in the hip-hop community.

The rapper, wearing a black cap, was handcuffed in his orange prison jumpsuit as Los Angeles Superior Court Judge David Herriford handed down the sentence.

The judge denied probation requested by Lanez’s defense.

Before Lanez was sentenced to 10 years in prison, he pleaded with the judge not to send him to prison.

In a 15-minute speech, the musician said: “Give me an alternative that is not prison.” I can be a much better man in my community.

“I am not standing before you as a celebrity.” I appreciate her as a sincere person who wants a chance. My child needs me – I want to improve. I want to show the world that the man you see here today is not the real me.

“I don’t expect any preferential treatment.” But, Your Honor, I really ask you with all my heart to test me and give me a chance.

“There were these misconceptions about me being this monster and having no remorse. But that’s simply not true.

“Everyone was drunk that night, I said some very immature things… I was wrong.” If I could turn back the clock I would… I apologize.

“I take responsibility for everything I did that night.” I ask you for the chance to be a better father, a better mentor. I ask you to judge me not just on this case, but on the entire scope of my life.

“I have a habit disorder – I want to be a better person.”

On the final day of Lanez’s 10-day trial on December 23 last year, a jury of seven women and five men unanimously convicted the rapper of three felonies.

He was found guilty of assault with a semi-automatic firearm, grossly negligent discharge of a firearm and carrying a concealed firearm in a vehicle.

The assault was punishable by up to nine years in prison, the conviction for negligent discharge of a weapon was punishable by up to three years, and the conviction for carrying a concealed weapon was punishable by three years.

Because the jury also found that Lanez caused “grievous bodily harm” – Megan had three bullet fragments surgically removed from her feet – the assault and negligent shooting offenses carried increased penalties.

The musician had previously pleaded not guilty to all three charges.

In her emotional testimony during the trial, Megan, 28, told jurors that she and Lanez – with whom she had a sexual relationship – were at a pool party at Kylie Jenner’s house on July 12, 2020, and were staying at his house had SUV in the Hollywood Hills with Kelsey Harris when an alcohol-related argument broke out.

Megan – real name Megan Pete – asked the driver to stop the car and she got out, at which point she said Lanez yelled “dance b***h” and fired a gun at her five times, causing her to seriously injure herself her feet were injured that she had to have surgery.

She testified in court that Lanez offered her and Harris $1 million to keep quiet about the shooting and asked her not to report him because he was already “on probation.”

Megan also said Lanez later apologized to her and claimed he was drunk at the time of the shooting.

Over the past eight months, Lanez had been trying to get the case reopened. His requests were rejected by a judge.

In making his decision Tuesday, the judge took into account two “aggravating factors” that had been shown by prosecutors to warrant increased sentences – the fact that Lanez used a weapon and that his victim, Megan, was “particularly vulnerable or defenseless.” ‘

But Judge Herriford found that prosecutors had not proven a third aggravating factor – that Lanez had shown “cruelty, viciousness or callousness” towards Megan, even though Assistant District Attorney Alex Bott argued that he had “completely no regard for human life.” ‘ and ‘with less luck this would be a murder case.’

Lanez’s attorneys contended that he poses no threat to society and the parole sentence and that psychiatric therapy and alcohol abuse treatment are a better solution than prison time.

They said if probation was not acceptable, his prison sentence should not be longer than three years.

But while Judge Herriford said he took into account Lanez’s “multiple philanthropic efforts” and his clean record, he rejected the defense’s arguments on Tuesday.

The judge told the court he had difficulty reconciling Lanez’s “philanthropic and talented” personality with the man convicted of gun violence.

“Sometimes good people do bad things,” the judge said.

He rejected the defense’s contention that Lanez’s mental state due to childhood trauma was partly responsible for the shooting.

While alcohol was involved, Judge Herriford said that evening: “It is clear that the (shooting) incident was the result of an argument – I see no connection between a mental disorder and the crime.”

Earlier Tuesday, defense attorney Matthew Barhoma criticized prosecutors for the “unevenness of seeking a 13-year sentence,” which, he added, “represents quite a departure from the LA DA’s own sentencing policy.”

“This disparity is being sought simply because he is Tory Lanez.” The fact that he is Tory Lanez is not a reason to seek an extension of his sentence. The prosecutor is taking action.’

He argued that his client had not been involved in any previous acts of violence and that the prosecutor’s request to increase his sentence from 10 to 13 years “should be dismissed” because the shooting was related to Lanez’s mental illness due to his childhood trauma. and his alcohol abuse.

But prosecutor Bott countered, “This case has nothing to do with insanity” and said Lanez shot Megan because she insulted his musical abilities during their drunken argument. “This violent shooting was directed at his bruised ego.”

The prosecution is seeking a tougher sentence, Bott said, because the shooting involved “serious bodily harm” on Megan.

“He fired the gun five times, hitting the victim twice – he could have killed her.”

Bott’s co-prosecutor, DDA Kathy Ta, added that they sought the increased sentence because of Lanez’s “threats to life and callousness, his lack of accountability… his brazen disregard for the court and the victim’s safety… and his behavior toward the victim thereafter.” ‘

When the judge asked why prosecutors were asking for 13 years in prison instead of 10, Ta replied that anything else “would endanger public safety.”

Defense attorney Ed Welbourn called clinical psychologist Dr. Stephanie Herring took the stand to talk about Lanez’s alcohol abuse, and she said Tory told her he would “drink up to a fifth of Petron tequila a night… to numb out.”

“Is there a connection between his alcoholism and the shooting?” Welbourn asked. “Absolutely,” replied Dr. Herring.

But DDA Bott hit back, saying: “There is not a single document showing that he was ever treated… for alcoholism.” We have no confirmation of this.

“It’s just a strategy. “Once again (Lanez) is doing everything he can to avoid being held responsible.”

Lanez’s defense team spent several hours Monday and Tuesday calling witnesses who sang his clients’ praises and recounted his many acts of kindness and charity.

And after showing several videos showing Lanez’s philanthropic activities on Tuesday, DDA Bott scoffed, “I felt like I was here for the ‘Man of the Year’ award.”

“It doesn’t take much to give to charity if you’re a man of great wealth…”

“We are here today because of a heinous act of violence against a defenseless woman.” Then he put her through hell for two years.

“These are not the actions of a good, brave person, but of a misogynist and coward.”

“He’s asking the court for mercy. ‘But where was the mercy for Megan?’
