Tottenhams 2022 23 Premier League fixtures released

Tottenham’s 2022-23 Premier League fixtures released

It feels like the Premier League season only ended yesterday, but due to the World Cup in Qatar and time being a flat circle, the 2022-23 season begins the weekend of August 6th. Today the Premier League released its fixture schedule for all 20 Premier League clubs including Tottenham Hotspur.

Here is Tottenham’s league fixture list.

We’ve got to take this fixture schedule with a pinch of salt as it’s very likely that a TON of these games will be rescheduled due to European and cup competitions, and you also can’t rule out a number of cancellations or postponements due to a hypothetical future COVID-19 surge neither. But we can make some broad generalizations.

In short, it’s not bad. Tottenham open the season against Southampton with a 15:00 kick-off in the UK, which is a bit odd given that Spurs have a 10:00/15:00 home game on a 10:00 Saturday for the first time since 2019 ! But Spurs won’t have to wait long to see how much they’ve improved after a full off-season under Antonio Conte – they travel to Chelsea in Week 2.

Tottenham’s first game after the Winter World Cup break is at Brentford on Boxing Day and the league’s schedule adjustment is making the normally crowded holiday season a little more bearable. Alongside Brentford, Spurs host Aston Villa on New Year’s Eve and then travel across town to Crystal Palace on January 2nd.

All in all, Spurs’ schedule is pretty friendly. There really aren’t gauntlets of consecutive top clubs that Tottenham have to endure as usual. The North London derbies take place on October 1st (A) and January 14th (H) and in one of those strange ironic coincidences the home NLD is the same week it was scheduled to be last season before Arsenal them got postponed.

However, Spurs will face some potentially tricky clashes after midweek Champions League games this season. Here are their opponents after each group stage game.

  • Matchday 1 (6-7/9): Manchester City (A)
  • Matchday 2 (13-14 Sept): Leicester City (H)
  • Matchday 3 (4-5/10): Brighton (A)
  • 4th matchday (11-12/10): Everton (h)
  • Matchday 5 (25-26 Oct): Bournemouth (A)
  • Matchday 6 (1-2 Nov): Liverpool (H)

However, the month of May is looking pretty good. Spurs have run-ins against Crystal Palace (H), Aston Villa (A), Brentford (H) and Leeds (A) which is very nice and could mean something if Spurs struggle for something in the last month of the season.

Not too shabby overall, although details will almost certainly shift somewhat due to competitions. What do you think of the schedule?
