“The results make us very optimistic and give us a strong commitment to continue working to offer our visitors exceptional and safe experiences in harmony with life,” said Deputy Minister of Tourism Arturo Bravo.
Likewise, the ministry pointed out that the cumulative number of foreign visitors reached two million 249,411 people between January and May 2023, representing growth of 20 percent compared to the same period in 2019 and 36.7 percent compared to the same period. Period 2022.
The figure for the first five months of the year includes one million 602 thousand 121 non-resident aliens; 416,000 Colombians residing abroad who visited the country and 231,285 cruise ship passengers.
The United States remains the country with the most visitors to Colombia, with a total of 414,893 travelers arriving from that country in the January-May period, followed by Ecuador with 115,432 and Mexico with 112,769.
“This positive trend in figures confirms Colombia’s reputation as a top tourist destination and reflects the success of the tourism promotion strategies adopted by the Government of Change,” the ministry said.
