Connected services in vehicles and via mobile apps are growing in popularity among consumers, but are often only available for a limited time after purchase, after which a paid subscription is required to continue using them.
Good news for Toyota and Lexus customers, the free trial of Safety Connect and Service Connect features will be increased from three and five years respectively to a maximum of 10 years on several 2023 models.
Safety Connect includes 24-hour emergency assistance, 24-hour extended roadside assistance, automatic call to local emergency services in the event of a collision, and stolen vehicle location.
For its part, Service Connect is like a kind of real-time diagnostics, providing information on vehicle warnings and alerts, maintenance information as well as recall actions either via email or via the mobile application. A dealer designated by the Vehicle Owner may contact the Vehicle Owner if service is required.
