Four people will go on trial in France in November for fraud after they fraudulently ordered nearly 12,000 Nespresso coffee capsules to be sent to Côte d’Ivoire, the parquet floor of Créteil, in a Paris suburb, AFP said saturday with
Between June and July 2022, “several victims filed a fraud complaint after fraudulently ordering coffee capsules through their Nespresso internet account.”
In total, the police identified 35 victims.
The four suspects are suspected of hacking into Nespresso customer accounts to change information, including the delivery address at the pickup point.
They then collected the orders and sent them to Côte d’Ivoire, according to the prosecutor.
“The payment should be made after receipt of the invoice, so that only the Nespresso company suffers damage,” which is estimated at 8,600 euros for the company, emphasizes the public prosecutor’s office.
Police used the phone to identify the suspects, born between 1967 and 1987 and previously unknown to their services.
They were arrested at their home in the Paris region on Wednesday and will appear before the Créteil Criminal Court on November 24.
