As there is a strike in Germany on Monday, no trains can cross the German corner. The route via Passau to Germany also ends at the national border. All long-distance trains in Germany are stopped and there are almost no regional trains. The reason for this is the faltering salary negotiations. Travelers in Upper Austria will feel the effects on regional and long-distance traffic.

Innviertel particularly affected

Local trains to Passau start and end in Schärding. A replacement rail service with a direct bus will be set up for the route from Schärding to Passau. If you want to travel to or from Wernstein, you can change to a minibus. Bus departure times are sometimes earlier. Local trains to Simbach start and end on Monday in Braunau am Inn.

Austrian Federal Railways is trying to avoid chaos in cross-border rail traffic. The ÖBB appeal for timely information by calling 05 17170 or online if you want to take a train going to Germany.

Frankfurt flights affected

Aviation is also affected by the traffic strike in Germany, as flight personnel will also stop working. Airports in Vienna, Salzburg, Innsbruck, Linz and Klagenfurt are likely to face outages on Monday. According to information from the Austria Press Agency APA, 39 AUA connections to and from Munich and Frankfurt were affected at Vienna airport.

Anyone who has a flight booking to Germany on Monday will be told if contact details are provided, according to the AUA. Vienna Airport, for example, advises contacting the airline or tour operator. This also applies to all air travelers from Germany departing to or from Linz. In Linz there are two flights to Frankfurt (round trip) and a flight to Leipzig on Monday. Until the afternoon of this Friday, these connections had not yet been canceled.
