Tragedy in Rivière-au-Renard: father and son charged

The father of Simon Dufort-Chouinard, who faces two dangerous driving charges, was arrested by the Sûreté du Québec on Friday.

Marc-Jules Chouinard appeared at the Percé courthouse on Friday morning. The 48-year-old was accused of dangerous driving.

In a press release, the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) indicates that the file is now the responsibility of the investigation service into crimes against the person.

The investigation tends to show that there would have been two more collisions on Route 132 in Rivière-au-Renard around 1:45 p.m. on Wednesday.

The vehicle in which the two victims were seated was allegedly involved in the two collisions.

Remember that Gabriel Noël, 19, and Dylan Samuel-Francoeur, 18, both from Rivière-au-Renard, lost their lives in these events.

Police investigations continued at the scene on Friday when Renard Boulevard was closed to allow investigators to reconstruct events.

Marc-Jules Chouinard remains in custody pending his release exam scheduled for Monday.
