The deaths of the two young men who died in a violent collision on Route 132 in the Rivière-au-Renard sector on May 10 may have been a story of jealousy.

Simon Dufort-Chouinard, 18, is accused of causing the deaths of Gabriel Noël and Dylan Samuel Francœur, aged 19 and 18 respectively. At the wheel of his vehicle, he crashed violently into the car in which the two victims were traveling on Boulevard Renard.
According to Jessica Samuel-Francœur, Dylan’s sister, the whole saga that led to the deaths of her brother and his friend begins with a heart story. The suspect’s ex-girlfriend would have turned to his friend Gabriel Noël to recover from his breakup and he would not have condoned it.
“Simon was jealous and stalked Gab for several days. On the day it happened, there had been a confrontation between the two boys prior to the collision,” explains Ms. Samuel-Francœur, who met with Sûreté du Québec (SQ) police officers.
She says that the young people who lost their lives were chased through the territory of the town of Gaspé for hours until Simon Dufort-Chouinard and his father Marc-Jules caught up with them one last time.
“It’s hard to accept. If it had been an accident we would be sad but there was nothing more we could have done. The worst thing is knowing that it’s a voluntary and thoughtful gesture,” she admits.
In the wrong place at the wrong time
What pains the 18-year-old’s sister the most is that her brother had nothing to do with the whole story. That he was simply “in the wrong place at the wrong time”.
“None of the boys had anything to be ashamed of, but especially my brother. The target was clearly Gabriel, and Dylan was unlucky enough to find himself in the passenger seat.
relief
The new indictments filed this week are healing the open wounds of the victims’ families.
While Simon Dufort-Chouinard was already charged with dangerous driving resulting in death, charges of first-degree murder against Gabriel Noël and second-degree murder against Dylan Samuel-Francœur came to light. Add to list.

The father involved in the story is also on trial for dangerous driving. He was also charged with attempted murder on Wednesday.

“It is a great relief to see that we are supported by the judiciary and that they have the necessary evidence,” argues Dylan Samuel-Francœur’s sister. It is good to see that these two lives are not given up and those who took them are being punished.

However, she claims that the pain in her family is still strong, such as at Christmas. Since the events, his family’s everyday life is “really not rosy” and the absence of his little brother has created a big void that cannot be filled.
