Irving Pulp & Paper invests in skilled trades. Twenty trainees are currently working at the factory, four of whom are expected to receive their Red Seal certification next year.
The twenty trainees are industrial electricians, industrial mechanics (mill builders) and measurement and control technicians. The growing demand for skilled tradespeople in New Brunswick underscores the importance of ensuring world-class programs and support for apprentices here in the province.
“The opportunity to further advance my career by learning from highly qualified professionals while remaining in New Brunswick is the best thing for me,” says Industrial Electrician Apprentice Mitch Gallant.
Apprenticeships have long been an integral part of post-secondary education in New Brunswick and play an important role in developing careers in skilled trades. We invest in the next generation of talent while providing rewarding careers right here at home.
