“Monahan fits well into our team,” he commented on Saturday on the sidelines of the NHL All-Star Game. I'm happy to have it now. It will be possible to do a few training sessions with him before the game.
Bowness has already hinted that he could use Monahan at center along with Nikolaj Ehlers and Cole Perfetti. The Jets will play their next game on Tuesday in Pittsburgh.
An underrated player?
Forward Kyle Connor, also in Toronto, described Monahan as a “very intelligent” player. He noted that he was undoubtedly underestimated and praised his effectiveness in the faceoff circle.
Remember, the Canadian sent Monahan to the Jets in exchange for a first-round pick in the next draft. This transaction came about because the trading deadline is March 8th.
Monahan is an immediate addition to the Jets, who with a 30-12-5 record are already battling with the Colorado Avalanche and Dallas Stars for the top spot in the midsection.
