Sporting Cristal was left out of national title contention after finishing third overall in League 1 2023 and failed to add a new star for the third consecutive year. Looking ahead to 2024, the Celestials plan to assemble a competitive team for the local tournament and the Copa Libertadores, a competition in which they will participate from Phase 2.
To do this, the Celestials will have to start looking for new players and hire a new coach before the departure of Tiago Nunes, who is leaving Rímac after a year. Likewise, several footballers from the Rimense team are fulfilling their contracts.
