‘Traumatized’ daughter of LGBT parents: ‘My gay moms oppressed me’

This TikTokker speaks openly about her so-called childhood trauma of being the child of LGBTQ parents.

Sidney Clementine posted a video on the social media platform, which has since gone viral, in which she jokingly discussed feeling “oppressed” while living with her lesbian mothers.

“My gay moms oppressed me,” she wrote alongside TikTok, which racked up 631,000 views and more than 100,000 likes as the nation celebrated Pride month. “I was raised by gay moms, and I want to tell you about times when they didn’t accept me for who I am.”

While many commenters expressed sympathy for their apparent plight, others got the joke.

With a blank face that initially fooled many viewers, Clementine hilariously described the times she felt unsupported by her mothers. The influencer explained that when she was a teenager, she wished she had bright pink punk rock hair.

“I was told I could get the haircut if I wanted to, it was my own head, but that I would look stupid. I felt oppressed,” she said.

Clementine also featured a shot of Disney’s “Peter Pan” as the darling children took flight.

“When I was 7 years old, I believed that if I jump off a high enough ledge like they do in ‘Peter Pan,’ I could fly,” she continued.

“[My moms] didn’t allow me to do that. I’m not sure why. But again, I don’t accept my life choices,” Clementine added.

The last example she noted of feeling “oppressed” was when she “wanted to go to school dressed like the Disney teenagers” — specifically, Zendaya’s character from Rocky Blue on the television series Shake It Up.

“Many layers and colliding fabrics. I would have become a fashion icon,” she joked. “Unfortunately, my mothers didn’t accept me the way I should be. It was heterophobia in its purest form, and you can’t convince me otherwise.”

Users were stunned by the video at first sight – until they watched it in full and shared a laugh with Clementine.

“I really thought you were serious at first,” one person wrote. “I’m so glad this was satire,” said another user.

In a separate clip posted earlier this month, Clementine humorously came out as straight over the phone to her gay mother in honor of Pride month.
