The Travel Risk Map shows you where you are safe and which places you should avoid.

Wars, natural disasters, political unrest or inadequate medical care are reasons travelers should clarify before booking. To have a better overview of the current security risk in each country, there is the “Risk Map” published by the company “International SOS”. A simple color system shows how dangerous it is around the world.

The most dangerous countries in the world

Countries you should definitely avoid right now are:

  • Afghanistan

  • Gaza

  • the border area between Lebanon and Syria

  • Parts of Iraq

  • Libya

  • Yemen

  • Parts of Nigeria

  • Parts of Pakistan

  • Somalia

  • Southern Sudan

  • Syria

  • Ukraine

  • the Central African Republic.

On the map they are highlighted in dark red.

Current data and the forecast for the next year are used to evaluate the Travel Risk Map. This takes into account, among other things, the political situation, the threat of terrorism, unrest, the risk of attacks and kidnappings, as well as fraud.

The safest states

According to the Travel Risk Map, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Iceland, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Andorra, Slovenia, Greenland, the Turks and Caicos Islands, as well as the Cook Islands, the Marshall Islands and Tuvalu are considered particularly safe (green background).
