  • Travis Barker says Kris Jenner asked to film his proposal to Kourtney Kardashian.

  • The proposal was caught on camera in the first season of The Kardashians.

  • Barker said he agreed on the condition that neither he nor his now-wife saw any cameras.

Travis Barker said he allowed his marriage proposal to Kourtney Kardashian Barker to be filmed at Kris Jenner’s request on the condition that neither he nor his now-wife would see a single camera.

Barker proposed on a beach in Montecito, CA in October 2021, asking Kardashian Barker to marry him while surrounded by a ring of roses and candles. The event was portrayed in the fourth episode of the first season of The Kardashians and included footage of the actual proposal in addition to the celebration that followed.

In an interview with GQ, Barker said it was his wife’s mother, Jenner, who requested that cameras be present during the proposal, and he agreed to one condition.

“I can’t see a camera and Kourtney can’t see a camera,” Barker told GQ.

GQ reported that the show’s footage was captured with GoPro cameras hidden in nearby foliage. As for the proposal itself, The Kardashians showrunner Danielle King previously told Insider that the entire event was planned by Barker himself, and the production team had to be ready “to spring into action” when the time came.

“The real event was all Travis. It was so impressive,” King told Insider. “He’s so romantic and he’s a perfectionist. He has every single detail under control. It was impressive, but on the production side it was just a lot of nail biting.”

Barker and Kardashian later married several times: without a marriage license and by an Elvis impersonator in Las Vegas in April, in a Santa Barbara courthouse in May, and at a lavish ceremony in Italy later in the month.

In the ninth episode of the series, Kardashian Barker voiced her and Barker’s concerns about how the episode was edited to partially focus on Kardashian Barker’s former partner and father of her children, Scott Disick.

“We like movies and we have the best time ever, and then we watched the cuts and we’re just so annoyed because they’re dragging us into this drama,” she said.
