Wide receiver Kadarius Toney has played a few games for the Chiefs and his past work with the team has left Travis Kelce scratching his head.
During the final episode of the New Heights podcast, which he hosts with his brother Jason, Kelce said he assumed there was “something to weigh” about a player like Toney because he’s in his second season was traded after being drafted in the first round. Instead, Kelce said he was “blown away by how professional” Toney is, before raving about his intelligence, athletic ability and confidence.
When she met Toney, Kelce wondered why things hadn’t worked out with the Giants.
“I don’t know how he got out of this building,” Kelce said. “I just do not understand. I don’t understand it one bit. I do not get it. I don’t even want to understand. I don’t even want to know what happened over there. I’m just really happy about that [Chiefs General Manager] Brett Veach has once again found a way to bring an incredibly talented player into this building.”
Toney missed a lot of time as a rookie with injuries and the Giants made a regime change this season, leaving many of the people behind his selection out of the building this year. Toney also dealt with more injury issues and the whole package caused the Giants to cut the bait.
Things have been a lot better for Toney in Kansas City so far and Kelce probably won’t be the only one wondering why it couldn’t work on the first stop of the wideout if this continues.
