Trevor Lawrence’s leadership embodied in a powerful moment of defeat

Trevor Lawrence’s second year in the National Football League came to an end on Saturday. After the game, his leadership showed in full.

Jacksonville, who won just three games in 2021, fired Urban Meyer midway through Lawrence’s first season in the league. It hired Doug Pederson during the offseason and experienced one of the best turnarounds in league history.

The Jaguars lost seven of their first ten games and went into their bye week 3-7. When they returned to play at week 12, everything started to work.

Lawrence and the offense were really starting to find their grove while the defense did enough to keep their opponents at bay. Jacksonville has won six of its last seven games, finishing 9-8 and making the playoffs.

The NFL’s worst offense of 2021 ended as a No. 10 offense in 2022. It was a remarkable upsurge for a team that even 365 days ago had little hope of success.

And to make matters worse, the Jaguars won their first playoff game since 2017 and only their second since the turn of the millennium. Pretty crazy!

The incredible season ended in a seven-point loss to the Chiefs in Kansas City on Saturday. As did Lawrence’s insane winning streak on Saturday.

Despite the disappointment, Lawrence was sure to keep his teammates’ heads held high. He’s proud of what they’ve achieved and shared the sentiment in his post-match press conference.

Lawrence wanted to make sure his teammates are proud too.

When the team entered the locker room, he stopped in the tunnel. The 23-year-old former NFL No. 1 overall draft pick hugged each and every one of his boys as they walked by.

Where Lawrence could have pouted his way into the locker room, he did whatever it took to let his boys know he had their back. He appreciates them for everything they’ve done.

Pretty strong moment!
