Goalkeeper Tristan Jarry has written his name in the great history book of the Pittsburgh Penguins.
On Thursday evening he confirmed his team’s victory against the Tampa Bay Lightning by scoring a goal into an empty net. The 28-year-old athlete is the first masked man to accomplish such a feat in the Pens uniform.

“It was a bit of a perfect scenario,” said Jarry, whose comments were reported by NHL.com. They deflected the puck right at my net and I didn’t even have to stop it. I took a direct shot and it landed in her cage.
Jarry’s goal is the 17th scored by a goaltender in National Hockey League (NHL) history. There are only 15 masked men who can boast this, as Martin Brodeur (three times) and Ron Hextall (twice) are repeat offenders in this area.
“This doesn’t happen very often,” the Penguins representative said. Only a few of us have succeeded in doing this. “It’s something pretty cool.”

Crosby is still experiencing firsts
At 36 years old and with over 1,200 NHL games under his belt, Sidney Crosby has never been involved in a game where a goalie could score.
“It’s really nice to be part of a moment like this,” the Penguins captain said after the game. We see it from time to time, but I had never witnessed it firsthand. I’m really happy for him. It was great to see that.”
Crosby also contributed to his team’s victory by scoring on goal in the second period. It was his 14th goal of the season and his 564th career goal.
The player, first drafted in 2005, ranked 24th among the NHL’s all-time leading scorers along with Joe Nieuwendyk and Mats Sundin. With three successes he will steal the 23rd place from Patrick Marleau in this prestigious list.
Crosby and the Penguins will return to action on Saturday when the Philadelphia Flyers visit them at PPG Paints Arena.
