Triumphant reception for Rahul Gandhi’s march in Delhi

“I walked 2,800 kilometers and never saw a moment of hate,” said Rahul Gandhi this afternoon in Delhi in the speech with which he concluded the stage in the capital of the “Bharat Jodo Yatra”, the march of unity that entails began September 7 with the aim of “uniting the country”.

“Many people took part in the march and all sorts of animals, cows, buffalo, pigs, dogs: no one was molested. What I’m going through is India, which doesn’t know violence or hatred: but when I turn on the TV “I only see clashes between Hindus and Muslims, and in the media we only hear about attacks, 24 hours a day. That’s what the authorities want, to distract from the real problems,” said Gandhi.

The march through the capital, now in its 108th day, was watched and applauded by an “impressive” number of people, as described by the media. In the morning, Rahul Gandhi was joined by his mother, Sonia, and the hugging moment offered a touch of emotion for the photographers. Instead, in the afternoon, Sister Priyanka walked with her husband and children alongside Rahul to the Red Fort.

Starting tomorrow, the march will be suspended for the end-of-year holidays. Gandhi and the 120 protesters who have accompanied him since day one will continue their journey north on January 3, with the intention of reaching Kashmir in mid-February.
