Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Opposition Leader Pierre Poilievre joined their voices for a rare time Monday night to bluntly denounce the “disgusting acts” of Hamas “terrorists” during the terror group’s attack on Israel.

“Hamas terrorists are not resistance fighters or freedom fighters. They are terrorists and no one in Canada should support them, let alone celebrate them,” the prime minister exclaimed, with a hard face, to applause from the Jewish community gathered in Ottawa on Monday evening.

Mr. Trudeau reported on the abuses of Hamas militants who had attacked civilians and taken scores of hostages, denouncing “disgusting and completely unimaginable acts.”

“Canada unequivocally condemns the terrorist attacks committed by Hamas. “We stand in solidarity with Israel and reiterate our support for Israel’s right to defend itself in accordance with international law,” he asserted. Mr. Trudeau mentioned that Canada was “ready to help the Israelis,” without giving further details.

“Sadistic and demonic”

Opposition leader Pierre Poilievre added a layer when it was his turn at the microphone.

“Hamas is not a militant organization, not an activist organization and certainly not a government. “It is a sadistic, demonic, genocidal and terrorist death cult that must be defeated and destroyed,” he said to the delight of the crowd.

The prime minister also cracked down on protesters who stormed the streets of several Canadian cities, including Montreal, in support of Palestine following the Hamas attack.

“The glorification of death, violence and terror has no place anywhere, especially in Canada,” he condemned.

“I condemn everyone who took part in the vile marches that took place on our streets,” added Pierre Poilievre.

The conservative leader also called for an investigation into the Hamas attack and suggested that in his eyes it was clear that Iran contributed to it.
