Trump and his fascists have captured foreign policy

Donald Trump and his fascists have taken over part of US foreign policy through their control of the budget. They blocked the funds needed for the wars in Ukraine and Israel.

The disciplined and obedient Republicans behind Trump are demanding more money be allocated to defending the US southern border to stop the flow of illegal immigrants into the country.

The problem of illegal immigration is real. But relative to the scale of threats facing the United States, the threats posed by Russian expansionism, particularly in Ukraine, and the spread of Islamism, including in Palestine, are much greater.

The war in Ukraine can only be won if more resources are made available to Ukrainians, even if Ukrainian society remains corrupt. In this context, we must recognize the very serious efforts of the Ukrainian government to contain the problem.

The conflict between Israel and the Palestinians cannot be resolved through a military solution. Nothing more than Islamist expansionism. But Israel needs financial support while it waits for a more permanent solution. While waiting for the Israeli government to take up the fight against radicalism, as it has announced. In the hope that Jewish extremists will also be included in this fight.

Trumpist isolationism

Trump's USA is isolationist. They have a penchant for dictatorships. They are guided by the lure of short-term profits. In other words: Trump's USA is uninterested in foreign policy. During his first term, Trump significantly weakened the State Department.

Defending democracy or fighting religious extremism are not part of Trump and his fascist followers' calculations. On the contrary, they are fighting democracy. Furthermore, Republican leaders rely on American religious extremists to gain and retain power.

Preparing for a more warlike world

Obviously, the world would become even more warlike during a second Trump term than it is today, simply because multiple dictatorships would see it as an extraordinary opportunity to expand their territory.

So it seems obvious that if Putin had tried to completely invade Ukraine during Trump's rule, Trump probably would have done nothing to help Ukrainians.

At the big annual press conference he held today, Putin was able to boast. Despite its immense losses, it can foresee the beginning of a victory in Ukraine thanks to the financial withdrawal of the United States. If it asserts itself better, it can begin to reap the benefits of the United States' announced withdrawal in the world.

Does this mean that Trump's US would abandon all of its allies? Certainly not. But they would not defend countries whose direct allies they are not, and they would not make strong commitments to some of their close allies.
