George Santos, played by Bowen Yang, comes to offer his condolences to Jim Jordan. SNL

“Saturday Night Live” satirized the devastation in the House of Representatives, mocking failed Republican speaker candidate Jim Jordan, his fringe allies George Santos and Lauren Boebert, and former President Donald Trump’s de facto party leader, while the show’s cold frankness feigned the inability of lawmakers to appoint a new one to elect Speaker of the House of Representatives.

Mikey Day portrayed Jordan, who lost a secret vote Friday to remain as the GOP nominee for speaker after failing on a third ballot.

In his office, Day, playing the Ohio conservative, says, “No, I didn’t win, honey. No, not this time either. It’s okay. I feel good.” After he ends the call, he breaks the receiver in half.

“Some of us are here to actually serve the American people,” Day said. “All I want to do is get Congress back to work so I can shut it down again.”

An assistant, played by Heidi Gardner, enters his office to bring him a new phone and introduces Santos, played by Bowen Yang, who has come with a baby to offer his support.

“George Santos? “Why do you have a baby?” asks Day

“Nobody seems to know,” Yang replies, before handing the baby to Gardner and telling her to “just get in an Uber.”

Yang then expresses his condolences to Day, telling him, “I want you to know that I voted for you, and you get that, so does Shoshanna Loggins.” To which Day replies, “Who is that?”

“Me too,” quipped Day’s lying congressman with an alleged penchant for identity fraud.

Day then asks if he should try running for speaker another time. “Well, I’d be lying if I said yes,” Yang says. “So, yeah,” then he answers a call he said was from Tupac and replies, “Girl, I know. Jada is crazy.”

Boebert, portrayed by Chloe Fineman, then called Jordan’s office to discuss his failed bid when he was groped in a theater.

The opening sketch also poked fun at Lauren Boebert’s groping scandal. SNL

“Are you out somewhere?” Day asks, to which she replies, “Yes. I have to go. I’m at the theater watching Aladdin.”

Eventually, Day is visited by former President Donald Trump, played by James Austin Johnson, who walks in and shouts, “Yoo-hoo, is this the loser’s office?”

“You supported me and then you just disappeared,” Day replies.

Mikey Day played Rep. Jim Jordan, who lost a secret vote Friday to remain the GOP nominee for speaker after failing on the third vote. SNL

“Yeah, that’s because I prefer the Jordans that win, okay?” Johnson said. “Like the great Michael Jordan or the even greater Jordin Sparks. “No air,” remember that? That was a song. Tell me how to breathe without air. You can not. You can’t do it.”

Johnson then brags that people say he’s a great speaker when he alluded to Trump’s 91 felony counts/

“Unfortunately, I will be too busy campaigning, traveling from city to city and visiting their beautiful courtrooms,” he said. “But I do great things for the courts. Great things for the courts.”

Day vents and tells Johnson, “I did exactly what you would do. Intimidation. Threats. Why didn’t it work?”

Johnson simply replies, “Well, to be honest, you’re not me, okay? You’re not kidding, I’m hilarious.”

The second SNL episode of the season was hosted by rapper and singer Bad Bunny, who also served as a musical guest.

Stand-up comedian Nate Bargatze is expected to host next week’s episode with musical guest Foo Fighters.
