Former US President Donald Trump is constitutionally ineligible to run in the state of Colorado for the 2024 presidential election. With four yes votes and three no votes, the Supreme Court, based on the 14th Amendment, effectively bars insurrectionists involved in the January 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol from holding public office. The landmark ruling holds Trump responsible for attempting to overturn the 2020 election and imposes political punishment for his undemocratic behavior. Trump has promised to appeal to the US Supreme Court. “We have every confidence that the United States Supreme Court will quickly rule in our favor and finally put an end to these anti-American lawsuits,” said Steven Cheung, a spokesman for the Trump campaign.
