The new accusation against Donald Trump is reported by Abcnews, which cited informed sources regarding the investigation Secret documents from the White House. That investigation accuses the tycoon of transferring dozens of confidential and top-secret documents to his Florida residence after leaving the presidency and then obstructing government attempts to recover them, violating the Presidential Records Act. Here, the new allegations against Trump may confirm an alleged tendency by the former president to be careless with confidential information, even if it does not appear that the tycoon showed the Australian tycoon the documents in his possession.
It all comes from the story of Anthony Prattan Australian businessman with interests in the United States: he runs it Pratt Industries, one of the largest packaging companies in the world. In 2023, Pratt was interviewed twice by the FBI and prosecutors. The billionaire, a friend of Trump and a member of the Mar-a-Lago golf club, told investigators about a conversation he had with the former president in April 2021: on that occasion he asked him questions about the US submarine Fleet. He was convinced that Australia should start buying. At this point the tycoon would have become enthusiastic and “leaned in” to the billionaire to speak to him in confidence: he would then have revealed this to him exact number of nuclear warheads that they can bring and the Distance from a Russian submarine that they can sustain before their presence is recognized. Pratt later at least shared this information 45 people: including 10 members of the Australian government, 3 former prime ministers and 6 journalists.
In the same year, in September, Australia canceled a large purchase contract of submarines with the Francewhich announces a political-military cooperation plan with the United States and the United Kingdom, the Pact Aukus. This then led to the agreement concluded at a tripartite summit in San Diego in March 2023 Delivery of US nuclear submarines to Canberra. As ABCnews reports, some of the Australian officials to whom Pratt shared the information he received from Trump were involved in the nuclear submarine negotiations. As if this information had a direct impact on Canberra’s decision to sign the agreement with Washington rather than Paris. Of course, it’s not certain that what Trump reported is true, but investigators still urged Pratt not to reveal what the tycoon told him to anyone else.
Pratt is great Friend and ally of Trump. The two roughly met 10 times in recent years. At Mar-a-Lago, where the Australian billionaire became Member of the golf club after his victory in the 2016 election. And in the White House, where he was in 2018 for the Australian Prime Minister’s visit. Pratt then committed to investments during the Trump presidency $2 billion in manufacturing from the United States. “I would not have invested in this factory,” explained the Australian tycoon, “if it had not been for the victory of President Trump, which gave us enormous confidence in investing in the USA.” The billionaire expressed these words in 2019 during the inauguration ceremony of one Factory in Ohio. A ceremony that happened to be attended by his friend Donald Trump.
