With Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis’ shocking decision Thursday that Trump should have a trial on October 23 on Georgia’s indictment, the ex-president faces a busy schedule as he campaigns to keep appearing in court for the presidency.
Here’s his schedule through Election Day 2024:
August 25, 2023: Deadline for Trump self-disclosure in Georgia
Willis gave Trump and the other 18 people charged in Fulton County, Georgia 10 days to surrender or be arrested.
August 28, 2023: Hearing on the 2020 federal election and case of January 6
Trump’s attorneys will return to federal court in Washington, DC to appear before US District Court Judge Tanya Chutkan, who is expected to use the hearing to set a trial date.
Trump’s legal team has urged the trial to take place after the 2024 election, while prosecutors are calling for a “speedy trial.”
Then candidate Donald Trump (centre) appears at a GOP primary debate in February 2016. Debates are scheduled for September and October, for which Trump will easily qualify – but the ex-president has not yet announced whether he will be at the first debate will be released in Milwaukee next week

October 23, 2023: Proposed trial start date in Fulton County, Georgia
Willis said Thursday, the day Trump was supposed to surrender to police and have his mug shot taken, that she wanted the election interference process to begin in less than two months.

January 15, 2024: E. Jean Carroll’s defamation trial begins
E. Jean Carroll’s original defamation lawsuit against Trump is being heard — but luckily for the ex-president, the 2024 Republican nominee doesn’t have to be present in person since the Iowa election is on the same day.
Carroll sued Trump for defamation in November 2019 after he publicly denied her claims that he raped her in 1996 at the Bergdorf Goodman department store in New York City. Trump said that Carroll was “a complete lie” and “not my type.”
In a separate lawsuit heard earlier this year, jurors found Trump sexually abused Carroll, not raped him, and awarded her $5 million in the lawsuit, which Trump is contesting.
Trump complained Tuesday that all of his court dates are pending as he attempts to retake the White House

January 29, 2024: Trial in Ponzi scheme class action lawsuit
Another trial will begin in January. This federal class-action lawsuit was filed just before the 2018 midterm elections, alleging that Trump and his three eldest children convinced consumers to invest in a get-rich-quick program. “The investments did not – and could not – offer a reasonable probability of success,” the lawsuit said.

Next year’s fifth primary will be in Michigan, a state that Trump won in the 2016 general election and that helped him win the White House against Hillary Clinton.

If GOP voters rally around a Trump rival, the Republican primary could still go ahead.
During his last contest cycle, Trump only became the presumptive Republican Party nominee on May 3, 2016.
