Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday urged the nation to consolidate trust and cooperate in tireless efforts to build a strong China and realize national renewal.
“Our strength comes from unity and trust is more valuable than gold,” Xi, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, said at a grand reception in Beijing to commemorate the 74th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic China.
The President reiterated that the future is bright and that the nation must continue to overcome difficulties and move forward.
Li Qiang led the reception. Zhao Leji, Wang Huning, Cai Qi, Ding Xuexiang, Li Xi and Han Zheng attended the event, which was attended by around 800 Chinese and foreign guests.
At around 5:30 p.m., Xi and other party and state leaders entered the banquet hall and greeted participants. They were greeted with warm applause.
In his address to the participants, the Chinese leader recalled that in the past 74 years since the founding of New China, the country has moved from poverty to moderate prosperity in all respects and embarked on a new journey of building a strong nation and Promoting national revitalization on all fronts through a Chinese path to modernization.
Xi noted that this year, China has coordinated the response to COVID-19 with economic and social development, committed to ensuring development and security, and actively promoted sustainable economic recovery, among other things.
The president cited other “hard-fought and encouraging” progress this year: the economy is on the path to general recovery, grain harvests are expected, people’s lives have improved and the economy has been maintained, including social stability .
Xi pointed out that there are still many risks and challenges on the way forward, stressing the need to make greater efforts to strengthen macro-level regulation, increase effective domestic demand, stimulate enterprise vitality to promote sustainable economic recovery and work to continuously improve social expectations and prevent the main risks.
“We must strive to achieve this year’s economic and social development goals,” the president stressed.
Xi also emphasized the need to further deepen reform and opening-up in all areas, constantly expand institutional opening-up in norms, regulations, management and standards, and promote the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative , to guide and facilitate the positive interaction between national and international economic flows to make economic development more resilient and vigorous.
The Chinese president said we should work to boost employment, help people in difficulty, promote rural revitalization and make solid progress in shared prosperity.
The principle of “one country, two systems” should be fully, faithfully and resolutely implemented, Xi said, while pledging support to help Hong Kong and Macao actively participate in the development of the Greater Guangdong Bay Area. -Hong Kong-Macao, and ensuring the long-term prosperity and stability of Hong Kong and Macau.
Xi stressed adherence to the One-China principle and the 1992 Consensus and called for promoting the peaceful development of cross-strait relations. No force can block the realization of the country’s full reunification, he added.
