TSE underlines the validity of the presidential elections in Guatemala

GUATEMALA CITY, July 14 (Prensa Latina) The Supreme Electoral Court of Guatemala (TSE) today published an agreement confirming the presidential elections held on June 25 and entering the second round on August 20.

In the absence of pending annulments preventing the electoral process from continuing, and in accordance with the results of the first vote, the vote must be taken, requiring the unit delineated in the text.

The TSE led a series of messages via the social network Twitter, highlighting that the Constitutional Court’s Amparo lawsuit confirms the official publication of the results of those who will participate in the next phase of the competition.

The plenary session of the judges of this body meets with the prosecutors of the political parties, while Sandra Torres of the National Unity of Hope (UNE) and Bernardo Arévalo of the Seed Movement begin their campaigns.

According to results released by the TSE, the former first lady’s group took first place with 888,924 votes, followed by the former diplomat and current deputy’s group with 653,486.

According to the information, five million 565 thousand 598 votes were cast, of which four million 212 thousand 460 were valid, 964 thousand 775 were invalid, 388 thousand 363 were empty, and 56 thousand 832 were invalid.

The TSE will then proceed with the allocation of posts through popular elections and will officially announce the results of the elections for the state and district list MPs and for the Central American Parliament (Parlacen).

It will end with the votes of local authorities as the pressure among citizens eases, although pronouncements defending democracy, institutionality and the rule of law remain.

Experts assert that by rejecting the failed political offers and calling for a change of course in the country, another phase of technical setback has entered the process.
