Turia recently said she is “proud” of her relationship with Michael, a decade after the traumatic experience that could have separated them.
The couple got engaged in 2015, with Michael previously revealing he bought the diamond ring while Turia was in intensive care in 2011.
The couple welcomed their first son, Hakavai, in December 2017 and their second boy, Rahiti, in February 2020.
Reflecting on the romance between the couple, who began dating two years before her horrific burns, she said they were “living their best life.”
“I’m really proud of my relationship with Michael,” she told Stellar Magazine.
“We went through something catastrophic and extremely traumatic and it may sound silly, but we’re living our best lives and we’re happy.
“We have these beautiful children together, and while we’re not perfect, we accept each other.”
Turia added that like all couples, they have ups and downs, but love each other with all their qualities, good and not so good.
“It’s really easy to like someone for their good qualities and want to change their not-so-glamorous ones. We’re good at accepting each other for who we are,” she said.
Turia recently told The Sydney Morning Herald that she “feels the hottest” with her partner Michael.
“It sounds kind of tragic, but I think beautiful at the same time,” she said.
