TV adaptation: The Boys sold to the USA

American viewers will get to know the world of Boys as part of an agreement with a major producer that will adapt the adventures of the popular ice hockey team founded in Quebec in the 1990s.

Tucker Tooley Entertainment (TTE), a company behind the hit films The Fighter, Dear John, Immortals and We’re The Millers, among others, has acquired the US adaptation rights to the series The Boys, the owner of the famous big film announced well-known small screen franchise, CodiHa!

The transaction, which has been under negotiation for several months, was completed during MIPCOM, a major international TV trade fair currently taking place in Cannes, France.

“We really want to make it an international brand and hope that this is the start of adaptations around the world,” ComediHa! boss Sylvain Parent-Bédard told the Journal via email.

“We chose Tucker Tooley Entertainment to undertake this project because of their trust, understanding and expertise,” he also said.

Perfect series to adapt

At this point, it’s too early to say what an American adaptation of The Boys will look like. According to our information, the American producer would have the freedom to mix elements of the plot of the films and the TV series.

What is certain is that the USA version of The Boys will be shown on television.

“It is a perfect series for an adaptation based on universal themes such as friendship and sports. We can’t wait to see what Americans will do with it,” said Alexandre Avon, vice president of Amuz Distribution, the company that negotiated the U.S. sale.

“We are confident that this series will captivate American audiences,” added Christian Parent, vice president of development and production at TTE.

In Quebec, Les Boys is expected to return to play in 2024. The franchise’s creator, Richard Goudreau, announced this summer that a film would be released during next year’s holiday season. A new series would also be in the works at ComediHa!
