Last week, the fourth episode of Fabio Fazio’s show attracted 2.2 million viewers, a market share of 10.5%. As already mentioned, Grillo’s speech yesterday was highly anticipated.
As Emanuele Buzzi wrote in Corriere, his return to television is a show, the Beppe Grillo show. The five-star guarantee dominates the scene and mixes songs from his repertoire, especially from his latest show “I’m the worst,” with jokes about the protagonists of the political scene. In reality, Grillo takes half an hour before stabbing well-known and lesser-known faces of the movement. First, the founder of the Five Star Movement attacks a great ex: Giggino, the folder, I’m talking about Di Maio, he was the most prepared politician, but we didn’t think he would entangle himself in power, people too organize. He and I decided on Conte. I looked at the programs, the ideas, whether from the right or the left, it doesn’t matter whether it’s a good idea. But then he stabbed us…
Then he jokes about the current star leader Giuseppe Conte: When I chose him, he was not a member of the movement. A handsome man, a graduate, speaks English, then he spoke and it was little understood… perfect for politics… but better. Then he admits: There was quite a fight at the beginning. There is also a hit against the Meloni manager. This government is a decal, the more you spit on it, the more it sticks. You have to stand still and when it dries, it comes off on its own, says Grillo. And he adds: The social fabric is falling apart and the government is trying to do what it can.
The founder of the Five Star Movement defends the movement’s historic struggles, from citizens’ income to the super bonus. The super construction bonus was also an idea; it was agreed with Draghi that, like citizens’ income, it must last for at least 5 years and then be diluted. Instead, he says, they stopped them. But fringe politics. And the hardest push has to do with the private sector. In fact, in his speech, Grillo quotes Giulia Bongiorno, senator of the League and lawyer of the girl who accused Grillo’s son Ciro of sexual assault. a lawyer, president of the Judicial Commission, a senator from the League who holds rallies in courts – says the M5S founder – where there is a case behind closed doors… inappropriate. Then everything gets mixed up. But before Grillo goes any further, Fabio Fazio stops him.
But the five-star guarantor’s show began with other hopes. That’s a bell. “If I’m upset, call me,” he said as he entered the television studio. But Grillo was a river in flood back then, citing anecdotes that were already present in the most recent shows. And throw in jokes. The only constant, which he repeats several times, seems to be a joke, but it marks a (perhaps) final choice between entertainment and politics. “I cannot lead a political movement or bring it to a successful conclusion, I have stood back and watched what happens,” he says several times. Only for the world of media and television does the founder reserve the same number of jokes (which are almost always missed). Between seriousness and jokes, Grillo remembers: I founded the movement, but I had joined the Democratic Party in Arzachena. And he talks: I’m here to understand if I’m the worst. Yes, I’m the worst. I’ve made this country worse, it’s no joke. The last interview with Vespa I lost the elections, everyone I sent… is in the government, I fought against the whole world and now I go to a bar and you make me pay for the coffee. And again: Bruno Vespa wrote a book. From Mussolini to Beppe Grillo, but do you realize that? When I see one of his books in a gas station, I compare it to Casalino’s, wow! Gone are the years of the tsunami tour, the M5S megaphone Grillo: he himself declares that he has at least four lives. The final page is a new page that increasingly moves away from the spotlight of the buildings.
