The Canadian Press: The Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television-Quebec section on Thursday announced their nominations for the trophies to be presented at next fall’s galas.
Indéfendable, TVA’s daily legal series, is recognized in major categories such as Best Daily Drama Series, Best Director for Stéphane Simard and Mariane McGraw, and Best Texts for Nadine Bismuth, Erika Mathieu and Stéphane Hogue.
The show is also worthy of numerous nominations for its actors and actresses, alongside Nour Belkhiria, Anne-Élisabeth Bossé, Sébastien Delorme and Michel Laperrière for leading roles and several others for supporting roles.
Radio-Canada’s STAT, with seven nominations, is significantly less cited than its competitor for the same broadcast period, and also stands out in the main categories of Best Daily Drama Series, Best Director for Danièle Méthot and Best Text for Marie-Andrée Labbé . Suzanne Clément is also a finalist for Best Lead, as are several of her peers in the Supporting Actors categories.
With The Night Laurier Gaudreault Woke Up, which won in the Best Dramatic Series category, Xavier Dolan is a finalist for Best Direction and Best Texts, alongside André Turpin in particular for Best Photographic Direction.
Shows with ten nominations include Avant le crash, Bye bye 2022, L’Échappée and Mégantic.

The most-cited series of 2023 is the daily Indefensible with 14 citations, double the better-written and better-acted rival STAT, I find.
On paper, TVA’s Indéfendable gets more selections than Xavier Dolan’s The Night When Laurier Gaudreault Woke Up (12 selections), the most extravagant series event of the year and the most expensive in small screen history. Quebec. Something is wrong here.
