Social media platform Twitter has added a new crypto feature that allows users to search the price of Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH) by simply typing their names or tickers into the search tab.
The new feature is an improvement on $Cashtags and was announced by the Twitter Business Account on December 21st.
The account noted that whenever you tweet a major stock, exchange-traded fund, or cryptocurrency symbol with a $ in front of it, people can see a clickable link that takes them to search results, which now include the price charts for those symbols .
It was also pointed out that simply searching for the ticker symbol, be it for a stock or a crypto, will also bring up the price chart.
Shortly after, on Dec. 22, Twitter CEO Elon Musk retweeted the announcement of the new feature, stating that it was “one of many product improvements coming to finance Twitter.”
One of many product improvements for financial Twitter!

It seems that BTC and ETH are the only two cryptocurrencies with price charts at the time of writing. Other top cryptocurrencies, including Musk’s beloved Dogecoin (DOGE), have not made it.
However, Twitter Business said it expects to expand its icon coverage and improve user experiences “in the coming weeks.”

Cointelegraph noted that a number of variations of Bitcoin such as “$Bitcoin”, “Bitcoin price” and “BTC price” also show the price chart, with similar searches working for Ethereum as well.
Tech blogger Jane Mastodon Wong told her 158,700 Twitter followers on December 21 that the charts were sourced from trading analytics platform TradingView.

The pricing charts also include a “View on Robinhood” link that can be clicked in the lower-left corner, suggesting that the retail platform has partnered with Twitter for this integration.
There, users are taken to Robinhood’s price chart for ETH, which has an additional link at the bottom that says “Sign Up to Buy Ethereum.” The same links are also provided for Bitcoin.
However, no partnership details between Twitter and Robinhood have been announced.
Twitter’s price chart integration may arguably lead to more traffic for Robinhood, as #Bitcoin alone is tweeted about 120,000 times per day, according to data from BitInfoCharts.
#Ethereum, on the other hand, is hovering around the 25,000 mark.

Earlier this month, rumors began circulating that Twitter might create its own native cryptocurrency “Twitter Coin” to be used for payments on the platform. The rumors began on Dec. 4, about a week after Musk gave a glimpse of what “Twitter 2.0” might look like, including the possible integration of cryptocurrency-based payments on Twitter.
But Musk’s future on Twitter appears to be at a crossroads after the controversial figure asked Twitter user on whether he “should step down as head of Twitter”? in a December 19 Twitter poll — with 57.5 of the 17,502,391 voters voting “Yes.”
Musk later added that he “will resign as CEO as soon as I find someone stupid enough to do the job!”
