Guy A. Lepage announced on Thursday that he is permanently leaving the Twitter platform due to the arrival of the paid subscription to authenticate his account in Canada.
“It’s time for me to leave Twitter as Mr. Rocket Elon Musk just retired my Ti-Hook,” the Everyone talks about it once host wrote. You can’t pay for insults!”
People who previously authenticated their Twitter profile but chose not to pay for the platform’s paid subscription simply lost their blue tick, much to the surprise of some users.

For his part, Mr Lepage added that only 6% of Quebecers use Twitter, but that includes “100% of idiots, which is too much”.

The 62-year-old producer and director wanted to thank his subscribers for speaking with him since 2010, when his profile was created.
“I know I’m leaving you with the scum of society. I’m sorry for you. But nothing forces you to stay there,” he concluded.
Guy A. Lepage follows in the footsteps of the news channel CBC/Radio Canadawho decided to stop his activity on Twitter after his English-language account was classified as “government-funded” by the social network.
Several public figures have also announced they are leaving Twitter, including famed singer and pianist Elton John and actor Jim Carrey.
