WSJ Main Street columnist Bill McGurn takes to Twitter on Elon Musk’s mass layoffs as some employees file a lawsuit on The Evening Edit.
Kathy Griffin became the latest victim in Elon Musk’s Twitter takeover as the comedian’s account was suspended on Sunday.
Griffin, 62, changed her profile name to Musk and appeared to be immediately banned from the social media site.
Though her griffin features her own @kathygriffin name, the nickname next to her blue tick was “Elon Musk” – which violates the company’s policy against impersonation.

The SpaceX founder said he takes his role as “Chief Tweet” seriously as he took on fake accounts just weeks after officially acquiring Twitter for $44 billion after months of litigation.

“Going forward, all Twitter handling engaging in impersonation without clearly stating ‘parody’ will be permanently suspended,” he wrote Sunday night.
“We used to issue a warning before suspension, but now that we are introducing widespread review there will be no warning. This will be clearly marked as a condition of signing up for Twitter Blue.”
Musk is launching an $8 monthly subscription service where any Twitter user could potentially easily get a blue tick icon.

The simple blue mark used to be used to verify government accounts, notable figures, politicians, journalists and other verified users.
“Any name change will result in a temporary loss of the verified tick,” he added in the series of tweets.

The overhaul serves to pay off corporate debt. Of the nearly 237 million Twitter users, fewer than 450,000 accounts currently have the blue tick icon.
A class-action lawsuit has been filed against the company by workers who claim the layoffs violate federal law requiring 60 days’ notice for workers, also known as the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act.
