Depp was never mentioned by name, but Depp’s lawyers claim it was clear Heard was referring to the Hollywood star, who says it cost him roles in a few upcoming films.

However, Heard, 35, claims he is slandering her by accusing her of lying in the article – and counters with $100m.

The trial has sparked much intrigue online as revelations about the abuse Depp allegedly suffered at the hands of Heard came to light, with some Twitter users noting that the Aquaman star looked sad and scared at one point, before apparently grinning .

Heard’s appearance change has come as Depp took the stand at the Fairfax, Virginia trial.

He has claimed for the past week that Heard – known for her role as Mera in Aquaman – abused him, telling how she once allegedly got mad at him for taking off his own boots instead of letting her, and as she allegedly did, severed one of his fingers.

Under oath at the Fairfax courthouse, Depp told jurors how he and Heard had a routine in which she would take his boots off and give him a glass of wine when he got back from work — and once when he broke that routine by he took off his own boots, she got angry.

She reportedly told Depp it was her “job” to remove his boots, to which Depp said: “I took a break of course because she was visibly shaken or upset that I had broken her routine rules.

Then she said, “Let me get you a glass of wine,” Depp said last week. “I paused, of course, because she was visibly shaken or upset that I had broken her routine rules.

“Once you notice something like that, you notice other tidbits coming out,” he said last week.

“Then within a year and a half she had almost become a different person.”

He said Heard became angry with him after she met with his lawyers in March 2015 to discuss a post-marital arrangement, which led to a fight in which he had the tip of his finger severed.

Heard had claimed one of the lawyers laughed at her — a claim Depp says he later found out was untrue — and she was upset.

He said he tried to extricate himself from the situation by entering different rooms in the house he rented in Australia while filming the fifth film, Pirates of the Caribbean, until Heard found him doing how he shot vodka.

“Miss Heard was hurling insults from left to right and center,” Depp said. “She grabbed this bottle and threw it at me.”

“She threw the big bottle and it was touching and breaking all over the place and I honestly didn’t feel any pain at all at first, I didn’t have any pain.”

But on Monday, jurors heard a different side of the argument when Heard’s team played audio recordings of the two arguments.

In one clip, Depp tells Heard: “Leaving is necessary, necessary, especially between you and me. It is of the utmost importance.

“The next step, if I don’t go away, will just be a bloodbath. As on the island, not worth it. Why be unhappy, can we just have some understanding?’

Heard says that given the choice between a bloodbath and walking away, she will “obviously” choose the latter.

Depp says: “Then why was it (a bloodbath) chosen so many times?”

Throughout the trial, Heard could be seen speaking to her lawyers, while her facial expression appeared to change — at one point she appeared to be grinning after apparently looking scared.

“She’s such an abusive, obnoxious, narcissistic person,” he said. “Everything she accused Johnny of, she actually did to him.”

Lisa, meanwhile, wrote that she “can’t wait for all the clips of Amber Heard’s reactions to ongoing objections and the apparent disconnect between her facial expressions,” and Kate said, “The way Amber Heard changes her facial expressions so quickly during the process.” hat is really scary.’

Others also took aim at their acting skills for the odd expressions.

For example, Lewis Johnston wrote, “They say Amber Heard has NO personality, and with those facial expressions you can see why,” while another user claimed she was acting like a non-player character in a video game.

“She’s super into making facial expressions like she’s a Sims character,” he wrote, as another accused her of “trying to appear victim in her facial expressions.”

The trial is expected to take another five to six weeks, with celebrities including Paul Bettany and James Franco set to testify.
