Twitter Users Tell John Mayer To “Be Scared” After Taylor Swift’s New Song

John Mayer probably wishes he could “stop that train”.

Twitter users aka Swifties are after the crooner thanks to Taylor Swift’s new bonus track on Midnights, titled “Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve.”

“At 19, and God’s honest truth is that the pain was heaven/ And now that I’m a grown man I’m scared of ghosts/ Memories feel like guns/ And now that I know I wish you would have left me thinking.” Swift, 32, sings.

“If you had never touched me I would have gone with the righteous/ If I had never blushed they could never have whispered about it/ And if you had never kept me from boredom I could have carried on as before/ But Lord, you made me feel important and then you tried to erase us.”

Suffice to say, Swift’s fans had a big day with the apparent attack on their ex-boyfriend — more than a decade later.

“John Mayer scared,” one Swiftie tweeted.

“Damn I wish John Mayer was still with us I know my husband would have absolutely loved this website if he were alive today. RIP,” tweeted another.

“JOHN MAYER COUNTING YOUR F-KING DAYS!!!!” tweeted another.

“John Mayer you better start running,” tweeted another user.

“John Mayer never sees heaven for that (she was 19 he was 32. THIRTY-TWO.)” wrote another.

This is hardly the first time the ‘Slow Dancing in a Burning Room’ singer has been attacked by his ex’s fans. Last year, Mayer responded to a Swift fan telling him to “die.”

“Fuck you you ugly bitch I hope you’re choking on something <3," the swiftie named Alondra wrote in a message to Mayer, according to screenshots posted by the @deux.discusssions Instagram account.

The persistent user later wrote to the “New Light” singer again, writing, “Answer me you bitch.”

Seemingly enough, Mayer, 45, replied, writing: “Hi Alondra, this is John. I’ve gotten so many messages like this over the past few days. I’ve decided to randomly select your message to reply to. Feel free to screenshot and share in any way you like.”

He continued, “I’m not upset, I just tend to be curious and feel compelled to ask. Do you really hope I die?”

Alondra then wrote back, “OMG WHAT I don’t want you to die,” along with a 30-second voice memo with audio that doesn’t appear to have been released. She then apologized to the singer, writing, “I’m sorry.”

Mayer and Swift dated from 2009 to 2010 when he was 32 and she was 19. It is widely believed that her Speak Now song “Dear John” is about him.
