Two dead and three injured in gun battles in suburban Toronto

Saturday night was eventful in Brampton and Newtonville, a Toronto suburb, with two shootings that killed two and injured three.

On the Brampton side, a shootout broke out around 2 a.m. at the Gateway Convention Center, where a ball was being held to celebrate Father’s Day.

For some reason that remained mysterious in the morning, suspects opened fire near the facility, fatally hitting two men.

“One of the victims was confirmed dead at the scene, while the second victim was taken to a trauma center where he succumbed to his injuries,” Charles Payette, a spokesman for Peel Regional Police, told the media in an update.

The latter called the witnesses at the scene, who are said to have taken photos or videos, to contact the police to help investigators.

The banquet center’s owner, Richard Marshall, told CityNews that the suspects were allegedly denied entry to the party shortly before the shooting.

This is the second time a shooting has taken place there in six months. “We have actually contacted the Peel Police to get officers paid for these events, but we have a request that has been denied for the sixth time,” Mr. Marshall, who told CityNews is doing his best to ensure that Security in the convention center.

In addition, two men were seriously injured and a third grazed by projectiles from a firearm in an altercation in Newtonville.

According to Durham Regional Police, two men suffered serious injuries and had to be taken to a trauma center in Toronto after a shooting that broke out around 1:45 a.m. A third man was hit by a bullet and did not need to be hospitalized.

While paramedics were tending to the injured, a fourth man subsequently presented himself to a local hospital with severe stab wounds. He too had to be taken to a trauma center.

None of these people’s lives were threatened. Investigators on Sunday tried to uncover the events that may have led to this wave of violence.
