This strong earthquake (magnitude 6.0 ± 0.3) was therefore felt this Saturday, December 2, 2023, at 4:48 a.m. According to the Guadeloupe Volcanological and Seismological Observatory, it has been identified as a tectonic type. The epicenter was 50 km north of La Désirade, 24 km away

We already know that the shock was felt throughout the Guadeloupe archipelago.
However, it should be noted that this was the second earthquake in the Guadeloupe archipelago in a matter of hours. The previous one took place this Friday, December 1, 2023, at 11 p.m. and was identified as a tectonic type. The epicenter was located 71 km northeast of La Désirade at a depth of 13 km (i.e. a hypocentral distance of about 72 km).
