Two firefighters have died fighting a blaze while working on a cargo ship in Port Newark, New Jersey.
A frantic search was launched early Thursday morning to find the two firefighters after they went missing on the burning ship Grande Costa D’Avorio.
They are believed to have been trapped on the ship when they sustained their fatal injuries.
They fought the flames on the cargo ship’s upper deck, where about half a dozen cars were ablaze.
Local firefighters had been dispatched from Bayonne, Jersey City, Elizabeth, FDNY to the burning ship containing about a thousand cars.
