Viterbo – (dan.ca.) - “Two and a half kilos of porcini mushrooms found all together on the Cimini peaks. All in the same place.” Almost a rarity, especially at the end of the season, when the chestnut has given everything, also thanks to the rain, and it’s up to the oak that will support the Funaioli until the end of November, beginning of December. There are three mushrooms in total.
The two “chilates” of porcini mushrooms were found by Massimiliano Proietti Palombi, known as Manetto, who is a little known to everyone because, until recently, he and his brother ran the Tredici Gradi restaurant in front of the Church of Santa Maria Nuova in Viterbo.

“I found mushrooms in the Cimini mountains near Canepina,” says Proietti Palombi. It’s not easy, especially for late-season chestnut mushrooms. To find them you have to go to the most hidden places where people don’t go anymore”.
Massimiliano Proietti Palombi has been a mushroom grower since birth. “I started when I was 10 – he says – following my father and brothers. It’s not easy to find such large mushrooms all together. Luck and local knowledge help, though.”
