The Malibu oceanfront restaurant owner and his son were killed Tuesday in a violent high-speed crash after a 21-year-old suspected drunk driver hit his vintage Mustang.
Andrea Bullo, 60, the owner of Moonshadows Malibu, and his son Marco were pronounced dead at the scene after a violent collision in Woodland Hills around 9 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of West Mulholland Drive and Valmar Road.
Lt. Matthew Bielski of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Traffic Division told KTLA that a preliminary investigation indicated that 21-year-old Kevin Gonzalez was traveling east on Mulholland Drive when he hit the Bullo’s vintage Mustang.
Both cars immediately burst into flames, authorities said, with video from the scene showing a fire contained in the front of Gonzalez’s Toyota Camry while the Mustang caught fully on fire.
Firefighters acted quickly to put out the fire – but it was too late to save the Bullos.
However, Gonzalez was able to escape his Toyota Camry and suffered only minor injuries. He was filmed taking a sobriety test at the crime scene.
Police say Gonzalez has now been arrested on two counts of murder and is being held on $4 million bail.

Bullo was born and raised in Murano, Italy before immigrating to the United States.
He received certifications from the UCLA Hotel Restaurant Management Program and in 1989 joined Spectrum Food Line, a group of restaurateurs in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Orange County and San Diego.
Bullo opened Moonshadows Malibu in 2001 with a group of friends of Italian descent, combining typical Venetian cuisine with American cuisine.
He was due to travel back to Italy to visit his mother over the Thanksgiving holiday, reports an Italian outlet, and she would then accompany him to the United States for Christmas.
