Firefighters from the Quebec Fire Protection Service had to intervene to extinguish two fires in stores in Quebec on Friday night. These two fires appear to be criminal in nature.
Initially, firefighters were dispatched to a business on Boulevard de l’Auvergne in the Neufchâtel sector at around 2 a.m. on Saturday.
The Quebec Fire Protection Service (SPCIQ) received an alarm about operating smoke detectors and sprinklers at a store on Boulevard de l’Auvergne, communications agent Pierre-Olivier Lévesque said in writing.
The fire department quickly determined that the fire was criminal in nature. The fire department and the Quebec City Police Service (SPVQ) were called to the scene.
An investigation is currently underway to clarify the circumstances of the fire, the communications officer mentioned in a press release.
Attempted theft and fire
At approximately 5:50 a.m., the SPVQ received a call for a theft alarm at the Armoires PMM store on Provinciale Street in the Duberger Industrial Area.
When patrol officers arrived on scene, they observed signs of a break-in and the presence of flames in the building.

Due to the circumstances, the fire department was called to the scene of the accident. A second investigation is therefore underway.
The communications officer states in his press release that the two fires did not spread.
At this time no connection has been established between the two and two separate investigations have been launched. To date, no arrests have been made in these two cases.
