The National Police have opened an investigation following the shooting that occurred this Saturday morning in Marbella (Málaga, 150,725 inhabitants), in which two people were injured by gunfire. The events occurred around twelve noon in the Guadalmina area, west of the city of Malaga, police sources confirmed. The first hypothesis suggests a confrontation between two drug trafficking gangs, one of Belgian nationality and the other of Dutch nationality. No one has been arrested at this time, the police said in a statement.

The incident came to light after several neighbors called the emergency service 112 Andalucía at around 12:45 p.m. and warned that they had heard explosions near the A-7 motorway near the Guadalmina urbanization, one of Marbella’s luxury neighborhoods. Both health services and several National Police patrols traveled to the scene of the accident. The first information collected by the agents points to the suspected involvement of at least three hooded men who fled in a Citroën vehicle after the shots were fired. Police sources said two people were injured and taken to Costa del Sol Hospital, although there is no fear for their lives.

This is the latest episode involving firearms recorded on the Costa del Sol, where incidents of this type are common. The previous case occurred just a few weeks ago, when a hooded armed man entered a nightclub in Estepona and shot one of the customers there in the foot. He then fled in a vehicle. The investigation remains open.

Six arrested for drug trafficking

The National Police also reported this Saturday on an operation that led to the arrest of six people in Marbella and Malaga for allegedly belonging to a criminal group that imported cocaine into Spain from Colombia and stole drugs and money from other rival criminal groups. . Its members were arrested just as they were preparing a robbery. Its danger forced the involvement of the Special Operations Group (GEO). During the operation, the police confiscated one hundred kilos of cocaine and 200,000 euros in cash. The operation was carried out in collaboration with Colombian police and the US Security Investigations Bureau.
