Two pedestrians and their dog were hit by a vehicle near the intersection of Joliette and Saint-Laurent streets in Longueuil on Sunday evening.
Passers-by who witnessed the scene called the emergency services around 5:15 p.m.
The police do not count serious injuries. The driver of the vehicle, a man in his 20s, and the two pedestrians were taken to the hospital center as a precaution, where they are being treated for minor injuries. The ages of the passers-by were not disclosed, but police were able to confirm that one of them was a minor.
The dog would have been seriously injured, but its condition would be uncertain.
In addition to the car involved, a lamp post and two other vehicles were reportedly damaged.
Investigators rushed to the crime scene to clarify the circumstances of the incident. They collected testimonies from passers-by who witnessed the scene.
“The area near the intersection of the Joliette and Saint-Laurent streets has been closed to traffic indefinitely,” said François Boucher, spokesman for the Longueuil Agglomeration Police (SPAL). Police are also advising road users to avoid the area.
