Two new choreographers have joined the team Masked singers This year was an incredibly enriching experience for the two young women.
Janick Arseneau and Valérie Rochette actually supported the director Geneviève Dorion-Coupal, who also works with another choreographer duo consisting of Julie Dombrowski and François Pruneau.
“I’m here for my first season as a choreographer for Masked Singers, but otherwise I was just before that as a choreographer on the set of Dance 100 for Netflix. These are my greatest experiences,” said Janick Arseneau.
As we know, various measures are taken on the set of Masked Singers to protect the identities of the masked people. Choreographers therefore work with personalities without knowing who they are.

“We don’t communicate with the masked people, we don’t hear their voices, we never know who they are until we see the consequences like the viewers. During the rehearsals we work with Marie Deslongchamps. She plays the role of the masked person and then the masked people learn the choreographies with videos and with Marie,” explains Valérie Rochette, emphasizing that they only meet the participants in their respective costumes at the last moment, making adjustments for a few minutes before recording .
The choreographers and the director have to adapt to the movement restrictions of the masked people, who have to cope with costumes that are not always easy to maneuver. Not to mention the heat!
“There are always surprises on set, so you have to be on your guard,” Janick Arseneau added, referring to a show where there are many challenges, which adds to the joy and satisfaction of the work done.
The third season of Masked Singers airs Sunday, September 17 at 7 p.m. on TVA.
