Media mogul Rupert Murdoch, 92, has announced he will marry Ann Leslie Smith, 66, according to the New York Post.
Smith will become the businessman’s fifth wife, having just announced his split from Jerry Hall in August 2022.
Murdoch was previously married to Patricia Booker (1957 to 1968), to Anna Murdoch (1967 to 1999), to Wendi Deng (1999 to 2013) and finally to Hall (2016 to 2022), with whom he had a media and controversial breakup because the entrepreneur had announced his separation intentions by e-mail.
The News Corp. founder proposed to her on St. Patrick’s Day in New York with an Asscher diamond ring because he was “one quarter Irish.”
“I was very nervous. I was afraid of falling in love but I knew it would be the last […] it’s better this way. I’m happy,” he said.
The couple plans to get married later this summer. “We both look forward to spending the second half of our lives together,” Murdoch said.
Murdoch is the major shareholder in the Fox News companies, owning The Wall Street Journal – both from the United States -, The Sun from the UK and the television network Sky News from Australia.
For all his investments, he has a net worth estimated at $17.5 billion, according to Forbes magazine.
