Tyreke Hill was traded from the Kansas City Chiefs to the Miami Dolphins in the latest titanic and major move of the NFL offseason. The Pro Bowl wide receiver is sent to Miami in exchange for five draft picks, including first and second round picks in the 2022 NFL Draft.

The Dolphins extend Hill’s four-year, $120 million contract, making him the highest paid wide receiver in NFL history. The deal surpasses what the Las Vegas Raiders gave Davante Adams last week, a five-year, $28.5 million contract for the season. In six seasons at Kansas City, Hill had four seasons for 1,000 yards, 67 total touchdowns, and three All-Pro honors, winning Super Bowl LIV. According to ESPN Stats & Information, he is one of only four players since 1970 to record at least six touchdowns in each of his first six seasons in the NFL. The others are Randy Moss, Larry Fitzgerald and Marvin Harrison.

Miami, with new head coach Mike McDaniel, loaded the offense around 2020 first-round draft quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. The Miami Heat signed free agent Terron Armstead on Tuesday. The Dolphins previously signed running backs Raheem Mostert and Chase Edmonds, as well as wide receiver Cedric Wilson.

While the move caught the attention of fans, perhaps we should have seen something based on Hill’s own tweet 11 days ago.

The move sparked a reaction across the NFL. Brand-new Chiefs defenseman Deon Bush amusingly realized he picked the wrong day to introduce himself to Kansas City fans.

Perhaps no one has summed up the latest NFL free agency deal, as well as Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stephon Diggs.
