Tyson Fury doesn’t reveal much about his relationship with Daniel Kinahan

Heavyweight champion Tyson Fury will answer questions about his relationship with Daniel Kinahan but won’t say much. Fury offered no clarity on the situation on Tuesday, saying his relationship with Kinahan was not something the public needed to know.

Fury initially told reporters: “It’s none of your business” when asked about his relationship with Kinahan. Fury then tried to downplay the situation, saying: “I’m just a dumb boxer who gets punched in the face for a living.”

Fury was mainly trying to convey that he believes his relationship with Kinahan is a private matter and doesn’t think he should explain it to the media.

Tyron Fury’s relationship with Daniel Kinahan under fire

Fury’s relationship with Kinahan came under fire on Thursday when it was revealed that Top Rank – Fury’s promoter – had paid Kinahan $4 million in consulting fees over a period of several years.

Last Tuesday, the US government accused Kinahan of running an international drug ring and trafficking in firearms. The government has offered a $5 million reward for Kinahan’s arrest and conviction. Kinahan previously had a stake in Top Rank, having founded his own advertising company – MTK Global – in 2012. Top Rank chairman Bob Arum admitted that the company was paid and had an interest in Kinahan. Arum said the company began parting ways with Kinahan after hearing he might still be involved in questionable activities.

Most in the boxing world are distancing themselves from Kinahan in the face of sanctions, but not all. UFC fighter Mounir Lazzez thanked Kinahan after Lazzez defeated Ange Loosa at Saturday’s UFC Fight Night. Lazzez said after the fight he was unaware of the allegations and sanctions against Kinahan.

Fury’s next fight is against Dillian Whyte on Saturday.
