A Conservative minister revealed on Tuesday April 26 that a few months ago an MP viewed pornography on his mobile phone in the middle of a parliamentary session. “A reason for exclusion,” said Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
Leaks leaked out on Tuesday April 26 at a meeting of the Conservative Group in London. A minister, whose name is being kept secret for the time being, has revealed that a few months ago she saw one of her Tory colleagues ‘watching’ a pornographic video on her mobile phone in the House of Commons. This case was reported to Le Sun newspaper and the Daily Mirror, which immediately publicized the case.
The party confirmed that there would be an inquiry into the matter and that the MP could be forced to resign or even be dismissed from parliament.
MPs and ministers in turmoil
It’s a new case of morality roiling Britain’s Parliament, already shaken by last Sunday’s revelations in the Sunday Times. According to the weekly, three ministers and two opposition MPs are currently being charged with “misconduct of a sexual nature”. A total of 56 MPs are being investigated on grounds ranging from harassment to voyeurism to assault.
Another case has been controversial lately as Labor No. 2 Angela Rayner has been accused by Conservative MPs of crossing her legs and back up to disrupt the Prime Minister’s appearance in Parliament. “Sexist and misogynist bullshit,” said Boris Johnson himself, who assured MPs that “sexual harassment is intolerable” and is “of course a reason for exclusion”.
