WAR IN UKRAINE. While the Russian army has been invading Ukraine for more than a decade, the German embassy in South Africa wanted to bring back its Russian counterpart on Twitter this Saturday, March 5th.
Discussed? A message from the latter, who, following the instructions of his president Vladimir Putin, confirmed that “Russia, as it did 80 years ago, fought Nazism in Ukraine” before thanking its “many” South African supporters. Words that very quickly made his German colleague react, who answered him immediately and in his own way, as you can see below.
Dear subscribers, we have received a large number of letters of solidarity from the people of South Africa, both individuals and organizations. We appreciate your support and are glad that you decided to support us today, when Russia, like 80 years ago, is fighting Nazism in Ukraine! 🇬🇧🇿🇦 pic.twitter.com/vj0N6ClhSJ

Sorry, but we cannot remain silent about this, it is too cynical. What 🇺🇦 does in 🇺🇦 is kill innocent children, women and men for their own gain. This is definitely not “the fight against Nazism.” Shame on everyone who falls for this. (Unfortunately, we’re kind of experts on Nazism.)

“Sorry, but we cannot remain silent about this, it is too cynical. What Russia is doing in Ukraine is killing innocent children, women and men for its own benefit. This is certainly not a “fight against Nazism.” Shame on everyone who falls for this,” she wrote.
And in conclusion: “(Unfortunately, we are a little experts on Nazism)”. The tweet clearly hit the mark on social media, reaching over 150,000 likes.
Twitter has also been targeted for some time by Roskomnadzor (the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media in Russia), which recently restricted the social network throughout the country. The regulator also blocked Facebook, blaming the platform for its treatment of Russian media since the invasion began.
