(ANSA) ROME, MARCH 22 US President Joe Biden has confirmed that Russia has also used hypersonic missiles in bombings in Ukraine. “With the same warheads used on the other missiles, they don’t make much of a difference other than being almost impossible to intercept,” Biden told CNN.
British intelligence agrees. “It is very unlikely that the deployment of Kinzhal hypersonic missiles will materially affect the outcome of the Russian campaign in Ukraine,” said Mick Smeath, Deputy Marshal of the Royal Air Force (RAF), British Military Defense Attaché.
Quoted by the Guardian, Smeath then argues that it is “very likely that Russian claims about the deployment of the experimental Kinzhal are aimed at downplaying Moscow’s lack of progress on the land campaign”.
The Kinzhal (Dagger) is a Russianmade hypersonic ballistic missile developed in the 2010s and entered experimental service with the Moscow Aerospace Forces in 2018. (HAND).
